Burial list of Covered Bridge Cemetery transcribed and submitted by T Sheldon June 2002. Both above notices must remain when copied or downloaded. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Transcribed this 5th day of May, 2002 by T Sheldon. This unusual cemetery wasn't really supposed to end up being a cemetery, but more a burial place for the deceased living on or near the property. Landowners commonly would bury the dead on their land in the earlier days, as it was legal at that time. The property involved here is near Menlo, a small community, and the burials took place in an awkward location for today. On the old WHEATON place, or at the edge of their place is where the two burials occurred, the burials were in the middle of the road. Literally. R. WHEATON was kind enough to move the bones closer toward Mill Creek. This location is where the covered bridge crosses the Willipa River.
