Sheldon August 2001. Both above notices must remain when copied or downloaded. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Submitted by T Sheldon, this 30th day of May, 2000. On 1 Nov 1853 the brig PALOS from San Francisco was wrecked at the mouth of the harbor on Leadbetter Point. The captain's body was found the next day and was buried by the settlers. No location was given. Also drowned in the wreck were three sailors and a passenger. The sailors were chucked in a hole on the beach, and the passenger, Mr. Baker, was recognized as a Mason. A Masonic funeral was given to him in Brigham City where a coffin was made for him. Brigham City no longer exists, but was located at Hawk's Point, at T14N, R10W, on the northerly side of Shoalwater Bay. BAKER, Peter, d.1 Nov 1853
