Burial list of South Bend Cemetery transcribed and submitted by T Sheldon June 2002. Both above notices must remain when copied or downloaded. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Noted this 5th day of May, 2002, by T Sheldon. As no specific location of this cemetery was mentioned in the Article of Incorporation, dated 20 Jul 1891, the whereabouts of this particular cemetery are confusing. The Incorporation document was filed by John GEORGE Jr., M. STILES, Thomas COOPER, Herman MARTIN, and Seymour H. BELL. Past research was done on this cemetery, and it has been stated that the burial of the above-mentioned men are not in Oddfellows, Fern Hill, Maple Hill, Riverside, Washington, nor FOE 1631. Also brought up was an approximation of location, Sections 25 and 36 in Township 14 North, Range 9 West or Range 8 West. Range 9W is located east of Raymond, east of Willapa, and considerably far from the road. Range 8W is west of South Bend, but not near the road going between Willapa and Raymond. This location is the sight of Oddfellows Cemetery. From the South Bend Journal, the local paper, appearing in 1891: "A long neglected duty has been the organization of a cemetery and the platting of Deaths Addition to South Bend........ The land chosen is the SW corner of Sec 25, about two miles from South Bend on the county road to Willapa....... a ten acre parcel adjoining Sec 36, a school section."
