Alder St., a retired food technician for Nalley's, Inc., died Monday in a local hospital at the age of 80. Born in Italy, Mr. Stella came to the United States in 1890. He settled in Montana where he went into the restaurant business and he and Marcus Nalley became friends there many years ago. Nalley came to Tacoma and in 1940 he brought Mr. Stella here to aid in the development of new food products. Mr. Stella, who retired in 1954, was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a 50-year member of the Elks Lodge, having joined in Livingston, Mont., where he had served as tiler. On coming to Tacoma he transferred to Tacoma Lodge 174. His wife, Ruth, survives. Services are being announced today by the Mountain View Funeral Home. Additional Comments: Wednesday paper page D-5; Col:3. View garden chapel with the Rev. David Barnette and Tacoma Lodge No. 174 B.P.O.E., followed by burial in Mt. View Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be: Marcus and George M. Nalley, Henry Willis, Vernon E. Nofzinger, Orville A. Ose, Cecil B. Walrath, Dana Kangrga, L. Evert Landon. Active pallbearers will be: Harold P. Bird, Favio Marcantelli, J. A. Clifton Sr., Gerald Patten, John R. Hill, Arnold Matthael.
