Mary Jane Lawrence Merwin was born about 1820 in Muskingum County, Ohio Falls Township, 
the daughter of Peter and Ann (Edwards) Lawrence.  They were married in Muskingum County,
Ohio on 11 December 1817.  Mary married Daniel Merwin 24 March 1839.  Their known children
were: Amanda, born 24 Jan 1842; James, born about 1844; Phoebe A., born about 1847; 
Thomas C., born about 1848; Harriett, born about 1852; Simeon, born about 1856; Ella, 
born about 1864; and Wilbert, born about 1867.  Information from the 1850, 1860 and 
1870 US Census, Morgan County, Ohio where all the children were born.  

After Daniel's death, Mary moved to Snohomish County, Washington to be near oldest daughter,
Amanda, who married William Wilson Larimer in Queen City, Iowa 4 July 1867.
