Spencer dated 1840. The bible originally belonged to Sarah A. Spencer, wife of Sylvanus Spencer of New York, New York. There is Spencer information pasted into the middle of the bible. The bible changed hands and the following Bracht information is written inside the front cover. Babies of Mary & Frank Bracht, Verna Cecelia Adelaide born Feb 28 -1900, died June 22 -1900, Alma Cecelia Viola born April 2nd 1902, Frank Hugo Paul born Dec. 27th 1904, Dear beloved husband and father (Prof.) Frank Bracht died Aug. 18th 1910, born April 18, 1845, Edmund W. Bracht our beloved son & brother, died Oct. 1923, Mrs. Elizabeth Schuelein our beloved mother and grandmother died April 1st, 1927, born 1835, Mrs. Alma Cecelia Viola Bracht Adams died Aug. 26, 1946, Our beloved son Frank H.P. Bracht died Dec. 17, 1956, This is not my family and I haven't found the connection between Sarah Spencer and the Bracht family yet. But I have found out a little bit about the family. Mary (Schuelein) Reinhardt and Frank Bracht were married Dec. 26th 1898 in Spokane, Washington. The Brachts that are listed in the bible are in Washington state. The family was from the Spokane area where they were merchants. Frank Bracht (the father) was a commissioner in Spokane in 1900. Marriage and death information for many of them is available on the Washington state digital archives website. Frank's father is listed as Ferdinand Bracht, his mother is Henrietta (unreadable) on his marriage return to Mary (Schuelein) Reinhardt. This was his second marriage. There is a death record for his previous wife Mary C. Bracht in the Washington digital archives dated 28 June 1896. There is a marriage listed in 1879 in Manhattan, New York (which is where Sarah A. Spencer was from) between Frank Bracht and Mary Cowan. I believe this is Frank's first marriage and possibly how the bible got from New York to Washington. Elizabeth (Reich) Schuelein is the mother of Mary Bracht. Her father is listed as George Schuelein, but he can be found in Illinois under the name Henry Schuelein. This was Mary's second marriage. Her first husband was Christian Reinhardt. They were married in Cook Co. Ill. (Her name is listed as Mary Sculer.) I hope someone out there will find this information useful in their search. As I said, this is not my family, but feel free to contact me if you have any questions and I will answer them if I can. The Spencer family information is listed in the New York, New York Bible Archives.
