All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/wa/wafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com December 17, 2007, 7:07 am Oregonian April 16,1893 A Young Man's Suicide Said To Be The Result Of Unrequited Affection Seattle-April 15-William H.Sanborn,the 18 year old son of a wealthy merchant,shot himself through the heart this morning while in bed with a younger brother.The cause is not apparent but is believed to be over a love affair wherein he was thrown off.He came home at 5 o'clock in the morning and had just sat down on the bed when the shot was fired.Death was instantaneous,and the sight that met the father's eyes as he entered the room was his son stretched at full length with a revolver in his left hand,gasping his last.The coroner took charge of the remains immediately and searched for letters or other clues that would throw light on the tragedy,but nothing was found.While investigating the case today it was discovered that the young Sanborn took chloroform february 27,and was saved only after four hours work.He denied then that he took the drug with suicide intent,and when questioned concerning a love affair with a pretty but frail girl,replied that people would talk.The remians will be shipped to Chicago,near where he was born 18 years ago.The father is quite wealthy,and has been in business in San Fransicso,in an interview the father could not account for his son's deed.The mother is prostrate File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/wa/statewide/obits/s/sanborn677gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/wafiles/ File size: 1.9 Kb
