He was born April 28, 1918, in Ketchikan, Alaska, to Joe and Lettie Thomas. He moved to Big Lake, Wash., in 1920 and Maytown, Wash., in 1924. He attended schools in Bucoda, Wash., and graduated from high school in Tenino, Wash., in 1939. He married Dorothy Sorrell on Oct. 30, 1939, and they made their home in Winlock. Mr. Thomas served in the Army during World War II. He owned a small sawmill in 1950 and worked as a timber cruiser for Hemphill O'Neill Lumber Co., in 1962. He retired in 1980, but continued to work privately for 10 years. Survivors include his wife of 67 years; three daughters, Sharon Studer, Cindy Freeman and Janette Roe; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jackson Prairie Assembly of God Church. The viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at Cattermole Funeral Home. Burial has taken place at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
