She was born Jan. 2, 1917, to Michael and Eva (Drozd) Malysz, in Elma. At a young age, she moved with her parents to Aberdeen, where she was raised and attended schools. Following her graduation from Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen, she attended business college. She married John Mannion on March 7, 1941, in Aberdeen. The couple made their home in Hoquiam for many years. Ann Mannion had been employed as a loan officer in the Installment Loan Credit Department for the National Bank of Commerce, which later became Rainier Bank and then Security Pacific Bank. She worked equally hard at home, raising her two daughters. In 1977, she and her husband retired to Olympia where they enjoyed golf and their friends. In 1983, Mr. Mannion died. Ann Mannion had been a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacey and the Capital City Golf Club. She enjoyed card games such as pinochle and bridge. She was extremely sports-oriented and was a devoted clam digger. Her family says she will be rememberred most for her kindness and strength, love of sports and her exceptional wild-blackberry pies. Surviving Ann Mannion are two daughters, Rita (Stan) Meadows, Galt, Calif., and Patricia (Terry) Duncan, Mill Creek; two sisters, Eva Frost, Olympia, and Mary Casperson, Seattle; two granddaughters, Kathy Sharp and Melanie Meadows, Galt, Calif.; two great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation hours will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16 in Woodlawn Funeral Chapel, Lacey. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 17, also in the funeral chapel. A funeral Mass will begin at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 18 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lacey. Father Richard Parle will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Tumwater. The family suggests memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a favorite charity. Arrangements are by Woodlawn Funeral Home, Lacey.
