Additional Comments: John was born John FUSHKO and his name is spelled many ways in US records, but primarily FUSKO or FUSCO (all of his children are FUSCO). His birthplace varies in censuses (Austria, Slavonia or Hungary) but it is held that he emigrated from outside Vienna, Austria in 1888. He worked on a Vienna farm where he was fed only potatoes and sour milk. He thought the streets were lined in gold in America. He met and married Anna Pelot (birthplace Austria or Slavonia according to censuses; immigrated 1893). Family lore is that they married in Minneapolis, MN. They followed mining jobs and in 1900 were living in Sand Coulee, MT and in 1910 in Carbonado, Pierce, WA. Annie died of the flu leaving eight children behind. John subsequently lived in Tono, Thurston, WA and Centralia, Lewis, WA where he died. John briefly remarried a widow, Eva Kukucha, who had two small children, (residing in Skookumchuck, Thurston, WA) but it is not known what happened to her after 1920. Both John and Anna are buried as "FUSKO" in Wilkeson Catholic Cemetery (originally called Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery when it was established in 1905).
