THIS IS TO CERTIFY, That the undersigned, a Justice of the Peace by authority of a license bearing date the 24 day of February, A. D., 1919 and issued by the Auditor of the County of Lewis, State of Washington, did, on the 24 day of February, A. D., 1919, at Chehales in the County and State aforesaid, join in lawful wedlock John Fusko of the County of Thurston in the State of Washington and Eva Kukucka in the County of Thurston in the State of Washington with their mutual consent. Witness my hand this 24 day of February, A. D., 1919 RC Beaufort Justice of the Peace SIGNATURES OF BRIDE AND GROOM Mr. John T Fusko Eva Kukucka IN PRESENCE OF Mrs. Jams Sheldon Theodore Gerlash Additional Comments: John FUSKO was born "FUSHKO" (b.August 07, 1872 Austria or Slovakia) and also used the spelling "FUSCO" (FUSCO is found on his death certificate; d.March 12, 1946 Centralia, WA). Both the bride and groom had been married before: John to Anna PELOT FUSKO who died in 1914; Eva to Paul KUKUCKA. John had nine children with Anna. In the 1920, John and Eva were living in Skookumchuck Precinct, Thurston County, Washington with John's three youngest sons and Eva's son and daughter. The transcription of the marriage license application shows Eva's maiden name as "CIESLA;" a transcription of her daughter's birth certificate shows her maiden name as "CHESTER." Given her Germanic origin, the first spelling is the likely surname. There is no record of Eva after 1920; in 1930, John is living alone in Centralia and is shown as a widower; he is buried next to his first wife.
