Ter Sept 5th 1880 Dr Br & Family, We read your letter the other day was glad to hear from you. It found us all in good health. We have not heard from Geo. Lately his P. O. address is Centreville Umatilla Co Oregon. We have just finished thrashing we had nearly 700 bush of grain. Morte & Thomst [?] Turney & Tom Jenkins Old Mortons Sinclair thrashed for us. Mort and family have been here about a month. He has a very good team wagon &c but not much else. They are very pleased with the Country. I have been away from home nearly all summer working at my trade. I am at present building a house about a half mile from home. I have plenty of work engaged to keep busy until cold weather. We are having lots of R.R. excitement at present. They have been surveying here all summer and will continue until cold weather 5 or 6 companies at it they say that the best route will take them close by me ranch. Pa is well satisfied with the country now, has taken a ranch of 80 acres joining me on the North he is raising lots of pumpkins spuds beans melons turnips &c. I must close for the present when you write again direct your letter to Pa he thinks you are slighting him. Yours &c M. L.
