Obituary: Adams County, Wisconsin: Henrietta BAUR ************************************************************************ Submitted by Joan Benner, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ From the Adams County Press, Saturday December 24, 1898 P1 Mrs. Henrietta BAUR died at her home in Jackson, after an illness of three weeks, on December 14, 1898. Henrietta LARKIN, daughter of D. W. and Margaret LARKIN, was born 49 years ago in the Town of Sharon, Walworth county, Wisconsin, coming with her parents some years later to Adams county, where she was married in 1872, to Peter BAUR. When a young girl she accepted Christ as her Savior, uniting with the M. E. church at Oxford. About five years ago she entered into fellowship with the Congregational church of Jackson, of which body she was an active member at the time of her death. Her life has been that of an earnest, helpful woman. Her home cares were doubled some nine years ago by the death of her husband, but she bravely took up her burden and strove patiently to do her duty to her children, to whom she was a kind, good mother. As a daughter she was the strength and comfort of her aged parents. In her church relations she was a willing worker, standing firmly for what she believed to be its best interests. As a friend and neighbor she was never found wanting, she never turned a deaf ear to sorrow or suffering, being ever ready to help in times of trouble; there is hardly one who knew her but can remember some kindly help she gave in time of need. She leaves three children, two boys and a girl, all grown to manhood and womanhood. Funeral services were held at the home Saturday, conducted by Rev. Chase, her pastor, who spoke fitting words from the text, "Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like His."
