Obituary: Adams County, Wisconsin: William D. CLARK ************************************************************************ Submitted by Joan Benner, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ From the Adams County Press, Saturday December 10, 1898, Page 1 William D. CLARK--On Sunday evening, November 27, one of New Haven's earliest settlers and most widely known citizens passed away. Mr. CLARK was an active member of the M. E. church, and an earnest and untiring worker in measures looking to the upbuilding and promotion of its influences for good. On the day of his death he was punctual in attendance at the morning services, and apparently was in his usual good health. A short time after paralysis supervened, he was assisted to his carriage and taken home. He never revived sufficiently, after leaving the church, to be able to speak. Death came at 8 o'clock that evening. Mr. CLARK was well known throughout this county, having been prominent in political, social and church affairs. He was sheriff of the county for one term, and held the position of deputy sheriff for many years. Mr. CLARK was a kind and affectionate husband and father, a good friend and citizen, and his loss brings sadness and grief to a large circle of relatives and friends, as well as to the community wherein he had resided since early manhood. The funeral was at the M. E. church in Big Spring, and was attended by a large number of people from the vicinity as well as abroad. Mr. CLARK leaves a widow and four children--two sons and two daughters.
