Obituary: Adams County, Wisconsin: Joseph William NEMETZ ************************************************************************ Submitted by Joan Benner, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ From the Adams County Press, Saturday Feb 9, 1907, Page 1 Away from wife and child, and in a foreign land, whither he had gone in search of health, Joseph William NEMETZ was forced to lay down the burden of life and bid farewell to all earthly sights on January 14, 1907, and his remains were brought to Spearfish, S. D., for interment on Friday, January 18, 1907. Joseph NEMETZ was born in Chicago, January 12, 1876. His death was due to catarrh of the stomach from which he had been a sufferer for some time. In 1902 he was united in marriage to Miss Ruth BECKER, at Sioux Falls, South Dakota and soon afterwards went to Spearfish and engaged in truck farming in Spearfish Valley. In July of last year, he went to Corpus Christi, Texas, thinking the change in climate might prove beneficial, but to no avail. The result of this marriage was one bright baby daughter, who came into the family three years ago. Aside from the wife and child, there still survive the deceased, his aged parents who reside at Hadlock, seven brothers, Albert, Wintie, Edward and George of Hadlock, F. G. NEMETZ of Milwaukee, J. A. of Pine River, Wis., and Chas. A. of Spearfish South Dakota, four sisters, Mrs. Rose McBRIDE and Mrs. Anna WIDEN of La Crosse, Mrs. A. J. POLIVKA of Friendship and Mrs. Jens A. JENSEN of Sonoma, California. Deceased was a member of the M. W. A. order, and carried an insurance of $1,000 which will be paid to his wife and child. Though not a member of the local order, the body was taken charge of by the local members and laid to rest by them. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. R. Jeffrey of the Methodist Episcopal church. To the bereaved relatives the Press extends the warmest sympathy of the Hadlock people, and trusts that God in his all-wise providence, will deal compassionately with the parents and relatives in their great loss.
