Obituary: Adams County, Wisconsin: Willis PHELPS ************************************************************************ Submitted by Joan Benner, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ From the Adams County Press, January 12, 1907 Page 4 Willis PHELPS was born Dec 3, 1842, in Oswego County, New York, and died at his home in Lincoln township, Adams county, Wisconsin, December 31, 1906. He enlisted February 8, 1864 in the Eighth Battery, Wisconsin Volunteers and was discharged August 10, 1865. He was united in marriage to Miss Florilla PALMER October 29, 1865. To them were born five children, three of whom are dead. His wife died May 8, 1880. He was again married April 12, 1894, to Miss Nannie JACKSON and to them were born three children who with the companion and other friends are left to mourn his loss. He was a veteran of the Civil War and a member of the G. A. R. Post at Friendship, Wisconsin. The funeral was held at the Phelps schoolhouse Wednesday, January 2, 1907, Rev. E. Cronk officating.
