PHILLIPS, aged 17 years, 2 months and 23 days. Bertha was born in New Haven, and has lived there continuously ever since. She was the second daughter of William PHILLIPS, deceased, and Sophrona PHILLIPS, his wife. She was a lady of noble Christian character, upholding all the Christian virtues possible, and athough she has been a sufferer for over two years with that dreaded and sure disease, yet she bore it all without a murmur, and went to her long home with the exclamation: "I see the light; I am going home" Her funeral services were conducted by Rev. Childs, from Merritts Landing*, and the church was full of sorrowing relatives and friends, some coming ten or twelve miles to attend the services. *Transcriber's Note: Merritt's Landing and Merrittville were former names for what is now known as Endeavor, in Moundville Twp, Marquette Co WI
