Obituary: Adams County, Wisconsin: Henrietta SAUNDERS ************************************************************************ Submitted by Joan Benner, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ From the Adams County Press, Saturday Jan 20, 1894, Page 5 Died--SAUNDERS--At her home in Barnum, Adams county, Wisconsin, January 5, 1894, Mrs. H. SAUNDERS. Grandma SAUNDERS, as she was familiarly called, was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts in the year 1821. She moved to New York state, where she was married to Mr. BURROUGHS, and from there came to Wisconsin in 1847, settling first in Jefferson county. She had been a resident of Adams county 27 years. After the death of Mr. BURROUGHS, she was married to Mr. O. SAUNDERS, who with one son and three daughters by her first husband, survive her. She became a member of the M. E. church at about 14 years of age, and continued loyal and true to the church militant until she passed to her reward in the "church triumphant". Her funeral was attended by a large congregation, whose deep emotion expressed the great loss they feel in the departure of one in whom they had such unbounded confidence. Truly, the memory of her Christian life is a benediction to her family and friends. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Ford, Text, Num. 23:10 "Let me die the death of the righteous."
