Deceased was born March 27, 1810 in Gloucestershire, England, and came to America in 1850, residing first in Waukesha county, then he became one of the pioneers of the northern part of Adams county, where he remained until his death. Father SHIPWAY, with his wife, became a member of the Wesleyan church in early manhood, and on coming to this country united with the M.E. Church, and ever remained true and faithful to its principles, and by his faithful, consistent, Christian life developed a maturity and stability of character worthy of the high esteem in which he was held by those who knew and loved him. His first wife and eight of their eleven children preceded him to the "land beyond the tide". His second wife and a granddaughter tenderly and faithfully watched and cared for him in his last sickness, while he gradually and peacefully sank to rest, and passed to his reward. Funeral sermon was by Rev. John Ford, Text, Job 5:26.
