Obituary: Adams County, Wisconsin: Ella M. SHIPWAY ************************************************************************ Submitted by Joan Benner, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ DIED--SHIPWAY--In Chicago, December 29th, 1882, Ella M. SHIPWAY, of Big Flats, Adams county, Wisconsin, aged 25 years, 7 months and 25 days. Just thirteen months before, her sainted mother had departed this life. Upon Ella, the youngest daughter, had developed the privilege and duty of helping and caring for her mother in her years of feebleness and months of acute sickness; and then to be a comforter as well as housekeeper for her father and brothers. When the advent of sisters-in-law into the family had given her an opportunity for needed recreation, she took it in the form of a visit to sisters in Freeport and Chicago. But there disease, first diphtheria and then scarlet fever, hurried her from earth in the prime of life. For her aged and oft bereaved father our prayers and sympathy are especially due; yet he mourns not as those who have no hope. About six years ago (during the labors of Rev. E. C. BOOTH) Ella professed religion, and united with the M. E. church. She has been known by her pastors and others since that time as a faithful attendant upon religious services, giving evidence of growth in grace.
