Obituary: Adams County, Wisconsin: Sarah E. SINEMAN ************************************************************************ Submitted by Joan Benner, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ From the Adams County Press, Sept 9, 1899, Page 5 Sarah Elizabeth PRICE was born at Homer, Courthland County, New York, September 7, 1837. She experienced religion when twenty years of age and united with the M. E. Church. She soon after came west and taught school, at and near Davis Corners. She was married to William James SINEMAN on the 3rd of October, 1858, and lived on the north shore of Jordan Lake in Adams County. Two children were born to them-- Mary E. SINEMAN (afterwards BARBER) now deceased, and Nellie J. SMITH, surviving. Mr. and Mrs. SINEMAN moved to Oxford in the fall of 1883. W. J. SINEMAN died July 16, 1884. Mrs. SINEMAN united with the Oxford M. E. Church and was a faithful worker in the church, Sunday school and Epworth League, until her health failed last October. Some time in the summer it was thought her trouble might be of a tunorous nature. Byron C. MEECHER, of Portage, called August 24, and said there was no help without an operation. Miss I. L. EMERTON was sent as a nurse. Mrs. SINEMAN continued to fail until the operation, which occurred Monday Aug 28, 1899. Dr. MEECHER realized her failing strength, but thought there was one chance and it was cowardly not to give her the benefit of it. She survived the removal of the first tumor well, and had there not been the second she would have survived the operation. It was estimated the two tumors weighed thirty pounds. Dr. MEECHER said there was no accident; no blood vessel cut, and no unusual amount of blood lost, and as the tumors were not of a cancerous nature, would probably have gotten well had the operation occurred six months ago when she was stronger. She lived till the operation was over with, but was too weak to rally. The funeral was held at the M. E. church, of which Mrs. SINEMAN was a faithful member till death, conducted by Rev. BARNETT of Westfield, assisited by Rev. W. W. HENDRY, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Oxford. Both of these ministers visited and prayed with Mrs. SINEMAN, and she was reconciled to leave all with the Lord. Words of comfort were spoken from Rev. 14 : 13, after the reading of the 90th Psalm. Many friends of the deceased were present, and the floral offerings showed respect and love. She has been a kind and faithful wife and mother, and though we miss you, mother, "We sorrow not, even as others which have no hope." I Thess 4 : 13- 18.
