He was united in marriage to Katrinka Mathilda BREDESEN at Troy, June 16th, 1884. They moved to the town of Monroe in this county about thirty years ago and settled on the farm where they resided for about twenty-five years and where six of their children were born. After leaving the farm they lived at Holmsville for two years and then moved to Minneapolis, where Mr. SMITH passed away on June 9th, aged 55 years, 9 months and four days, after several weeks of suffering. The remians were brought here for burial Saturday morning, June 11th. Deceased is survived by a wife and three daughters, Mrs. R. H. RHODES, Mrs. H. SOLEY, both of Prentice, and Miss Edna SMITH of Minneapolis, and four sons, Charles H., Fred O., Otto E. and Harry M., all of Minneapolis. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Ella BERGER, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry LEWIS, of White Earth, North Dakota. All of the surviving children and the bereaved wife attended the funeral services which were held on Monday, June 13th, at the Spring Creek church, Rev. A. J. RAFTSHOL officiating and interment and interment was in the Spring Creek Cemetery. During the past three years the departed brother had been blessed with more spiritual light concerning Sin and Grace, and died peacefully while repeating the Lord's Prayer with his family.
