F. Stowell Died in California Relatives here have received the sad news of the death of A. F. Stowell, which occurred at the National Soldiers Home at Los Angeles, Cal., on Oct. 24th. Mr. Stowell for years was a prominent resident of the village of White Creek. He was a veteran of White Creek. He was a veteran of the local Masonic lodge, and also of the Kilbourn Chapter of that order. During his long residence at White Creek, he took an active interest in public affairs, and was a respected and honored member of that community. About two years ago, he and his wife moved to this village, and for a short time occupied rooms in the home of his son, Louis. Mrs. Stowell, whose health is very poor, accompanied a sister to her home in California, in hopes the change in climate would be beneficial. Mr. Stowell followed several months later, and entered the National Veterans Home at Los Angeles, to be near his wife, who was at the home of relatives. He was ill only about a week, the cause of his death being cancer of the stomach and uremic poisoning. A military funeral service was held in the chapel at the home Oct. 26th, and a delegation of veterans and Masons were in attendance. Interment was in the National cemetery near the Home. Besides his wife, deceased leaves to mourn their loss, two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Howard and Mrs. Vera Purvis of Missoula, Montana; and two sons, Frank B. of North Dakota; and I. L., of this village.
