Obituary: Adams County, Wisconsin: Lorense STRAND ************************************************************************ Submitted by Joan Benner, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ From the Friendship Reporter, Thursday February 10, 1921, Page 1 Mrs. R. O. STRAND, whose maiden name was Lorense HOLMEN, was born April 18, 1852 at Inderoen, Throndhjem, Norway. She was confirmed September 29, 1867, and came to Strong's Prairie township in 1882. On June 3rd, 1884, she was united in marriage with R. O. STRAND. Some time ago it became known to family and nearest friends that there was no medical help for the sickness that brought about her death February 1st, 1921, at the age of 68 years, 9 months and 13 days. She is survived by her husband and three children, Mrs. Ole MIKKELSEN, Leonard and Lincoln STRAND, and by seven grandchildren, Ricktor, Lewis, and Olga MIKKELSON, Vernal and Wilma STRAND, all of Arkdale, and Arnold and Gilbert, children of her son Gustave STRAND, who died June 6th, 1916, in Idaho. Deceased is also survived by two brothers, John and Ole HOLMEN, in Norway. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church and the Ladies Aid Society. One more of our sisters has been summoned from our midst and, as we hope, has by the grace of God through a living faith in Christ transferred her membership from the Church militant in the Kingdom of Grace to the Church triumphant in the Kingdom of Glory. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon February 4th, at the Arkdale church, and the interment was in the Arkdale cemetery, Rev. A. J. Raftshol officiating. Funeral services were held at the Trinity Lutheran church on September 27th, Rev. A. J. Raftshol officiating, and interment was in the cemetery one mile south of the church.
