Dells, Columbia County, Wisconsin], Thursday March 4, 1915 Wallace Thompson, another veteran of the great civil war, with an honorable record as a soldier and the reputation of a clean, industrious, worthy life since that war, passed away the 2nd inst. Wallace Thompson lived nearly seventy-five years without incurring enmity, without wronging any man, an industrious, upright man. He enlisted in the 10th Wisconsin Infantry Sept. 1861, and served in that regiment three years. He fought in the big battles around Chattanooga, and was wounded twice. Re-enlisted in the veteran reserves, he served until Feb. 1866. Wallace Thompson was born in Delaware county, New York, June 2, 1840, locating in Adams county April 1856. In April 1867 he was married to Mrs. Sabra P. Solomon Sly. To this union was born five children: Estella, deceased wife of Theodore Townsend; two sons, George in Milwaukee and Fred in Kilbourn, also two daughters, Mrs. Don Capron of Portage and Miss Mabel at home. Funeral services were held at the home in Kilbourn today, Thursday, the Rev. Coran of the M. E. church officiated, after which the ritual service of the Grand Army was carried out. The interment was in the Plainville cemetery, beside his wife who died ten years ago.
