Obituary: Adams County, Wisconsin: Jessie TWIST ************************************************************************ Submitted by Joan Benner, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ From the Adams County Press, Sat. March 26, 1904, Page 8 Miss Jessie Twist, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Twist at White Creek, Friday morning, March 18th, 1904, after a short illness, aged 28 years. Miss Twist's death was wholly unexpected even by immediate family members and was a shock to the entire neighborhood. She had been visiting a sister near Oxford for some time and while there was afflicted with the quinsy, from which she partially recovered and came home; taking more cold she suffered a relapse and lived but a short time. While staying at Oxford she attended the revival meetings at the M. E. church and became an anxious seeker after the way the Master taught, gave her heart to God and felt a full sense of Divine forgiveness. She united with the church and lived a consistent christian until the Master called her home. The funeral was held from the church at White Creek last Sunday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. A. H. Smith, her pastor, preaching from words found in Luke 8:52 "She is not dead, but sleepeth." The choir rendered some beautiful music, and six of her life long friends tenderly carried her remains to the tomb, there to await the summons of Him, whose voice shall wake the dead. - --Her Pastor
