Submitted by: Vic Gulickson 24 February 2004 *********************************************************************** Lars Amundson, now deceased, was for many years a substantial and respected citizen of Maple Grove Township. He was born in Norway, July 5, 1847, and there received his early education. He came to America in the late fifties and settled in Wisconsin. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted and served until the close of that conflict. Some years afterward, he came to Barron County, took a claim in Maple Grove Township and developed a good farm. In his old age he retired and took up his residence in the Soldiers' Home in Milwaukee, where he died July 3, 1912. Mr. Amundson was married July 3, 1870, to Margaret Tollefson, daughter of Turie and Gertie (Tollefson) Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. Amundson had seven children: Tollef Albert, Lewis, Gina, Andrew, Olaf and Anna, the four youngest of whom are dead. --Transcribed from: History of Barron Co., Wisconsin, H. C.
