He learned his trade as a mechanic in Barron. From there in 1914 he went to Manistique, Mich., and four years later to Gladstone, Wis., where he operated a lathe machine. In 1919 he came to Barron once more, first as a salesman for the Thompson Auto Co. and now asmechanic. He lives with his mother.
