He came to Wisconsin in 1880, and with Eau Claire as his headquarters, worked for Knapp, Stout & Co. for fifteen years. In 1895 he took a homestead in Washburn County, not far from this county. He cleared the entire forty acres, put up a good set of buildings, and successfully carried on general farming until 1920, when he retired and moved to Rice Lake where he purchased a pleasant home. His wife died in 1885 and he married Gertie St. Clair. The three children in the family are: John, Gertrude, now Mrs. Milo Curtis, and Harry. --Taken from History of Barron Co., Wisconsin, H. C.
