Submitted by: Vic Gulickson 14 January 2004 ************************************************************************ John McAdams, deceased, formerly of Maple Grove Township, was born in Pennsylvania, and was there reared. As a young man he married Mary America, also a native of that state. He worked for several years as a miller in Indiana and in Missouri. In 1873 he came to this region, and secured a farm of 120 acres in Pepin County, this state. It was in 1874 that he came to Maple Grove Township, secured land, and devoted the remainder of his life to farming. He died in 1890 and his good wife survived until 1900. Mr. and Mrs. McAdams were the parents of nine children: Virginia (deceased), Sylvania, Thomas (deceased), Alvira, Mary, Sarah, Butler, Clara and Charles (adopted).
