He is a native of this county, born on the place where he still resides, Sept. 26, 1885, the son of Henry Clay and Cynthia Jane (Milton) Samples. He attended the district school of the neighborhood, learned farming from his father and brothers, and has always remained at home. He is prominent in the social doings of the neighborhood, and is regarded as a solid and useful citizen. He was married in Minnesota on June 9, 1921, to Mrs. Hazel Fink, who was born in Walworth County, Wis., on Nov. 22, 1892, the daughter of Henry and Claira Gulvin. --Taken from: History of Barron Co., Wisconsin, H.
