Submitted by: Kent Robarge 03 August 2007 ************************************************************************ Obituary of James Amans in May 17, 1972 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron Co., WI) James Amans, 29, Dies in Illinois Cycle Accident A former Rice Lake man, James Amans, 29, died last Wednesday evening at Rockford, Ill. following a motorcycle accident that morning. Funeral services were held at St. Bridgit's Catholic church at Loves Park, Ill. and burial was in Calvary cemetery at Rockford. Mr. Amans sustained fatal head injuries when the motorcycle he was riding missed a curve and crashed through a concrete block wall of the State Farm Insurance Co. building. Another cyclist riding with Amans flagged down a passing ambulance. Mr. Amans was born in Rice Lake Nov. 30, 1942, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Amans. He was graduated in 1960 from Rice Lake high school and, following his marriage that year to Sandy Mackey of Rice Lake, they moved to Illinois. He is survived by his wife; one son, Dean, 10; two daughters, Jody Kay, 7, and Katie, 5; his parents; two brothers, Fred of Rockford and Elden of Loves Park; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia Ferrias of Rockford, Mrs. LaVonne Brunette of Tacoma, Wash. and Mrs. Leora Cutsforth of Springfield, Ore.
