Submitted by: Kent Robarge 10 December 2007 **************************************************************************************************************************** Obituary of Hazel (Secore) Apfel in Wed., Nov. 14, 1956 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron Co., WI) Mrs. Hazel Apfel Buried Saturday Mrs. Hazel Apfel, 48 year old native of Rice Lake, died Wednesday afternoon in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Saturday morning in Saint Joseph's Catholic church, with Msgr. Peter F. Meyer officiating, and burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Apfel, who was born Feb. 9, 1908, in Rice Lake, was a past president of the auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She is survived by her husband Harry: a daughter, Gloria Ann Apfel of Rice Lake; seven sons, Robert of Rockford, Ill.; Russell, stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and Jerome, Virgil, Duane, Johnnie and Douglas, all of Rice Lake; her father, Felix Secore of Rice Lake, and eight grandchildren.
