Baumberger Dies "Former Happy Hour Tavern owner Wally Baumberger, 56, of 413 Slocum St., was pronounced dead on arrival Sunday at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and burial was made in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Mr. Baumberger was born Dec. 6, 1929 in Rice Lake and graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1948. From 1948-1952, he served in the United States Navy. He then returned to Rice Lake and worked as a licensed cheese grader for Dairyland Cheese Co. Later, he owned and operated the Happy Hour Tavern in Rice Lake for a number of years. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2204, and also belonged to the Eubanks-Arneson American Legion Post. He is survived by one daughter, Heidi Baumberger of Columbia, Mo.; two sons, Fritz of Gillette, Wyo., and Brad of Savage, Mont.; five grandchildren; his mother, Kelly Baziewicz of Rice Lake; and two sisters, Dona Miller of Buffalo, Mont., and Darlene Schneider of Janesville."
