Submitted by: Barbara Horn 03 June 2004 ************************************************************************ From the Thursday, August 24, 1950 issue of the Barron County News Shield: (page 6 cols 5 & 6) Mrs Christina Saglien Bonkrude, daughter of Gilbert and Marit Severude Saglien, was born June 22, 1878 in Norway and came to this country with her family when she was four years old. She was married December 23, 1899 to Peter Bonkrude who died 40 years ago. Mrs Bonkrude, who resided in the Dallas vicinity most of her life, died August 13 at the Heath Rest Home in Cameron after a long illness. She was a member of the Dallas Lutheran Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs Gale Locke, Hillsdale; two sons, John Bonkrude and Melvin Bonkrude, Dallas; two stepchildren, Mrs Minnie Johnson and Paul Bonkrude of Dallas; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Hans Saglien of Chetek and Oscar Saglien of Rice Lake, and a sister, Mrs John Nelson, Chetek. Funeral services were held August 16 at the Miller Funeral Home and at Ny Scandinavia Church, with Rev Hj. Froiland officiating.
