Brempell, 82, a former Rice Lake resident, died Jan. 21, 1990, at Kaiser Permente Hospital in Anaheim, Calif. Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 26, at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral in San Bernardino, Calif. The former Zella LaBrie was born Aug. 27, 1907, in Rice Lake to George and Alice LaBrie. She married the late Ernest K. Brempell Jr. on June 18, 1926. Zella was active in the Rice Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and was one of the founders of Our Lady of Fatima Shrine Guild in Lake Arrowhead, Calif. She was also very active in the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), Lake Arrowhead Chapter. She is survived by two sons, Maitland O. Brempell of Iron River, Wis., and Ernest K. Brempell III of Huntington Beach, Calif.; one daughter Delores M. Everts of Burbank, Calif.; two grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Nola Robarge and Violet Brunette, both of Rice Lake; and one brother, Adolph LaBrie of Eau Claire. Memorials may be made as masses said for Zella Brempell, or donations in her name to the City of Hope Hospital in Duarte, Calif."
