From the BARRON COUNTY SHIELD NEWSPAPER, Fri., Feb 7, 1908 "Died - Mrs. J.E. Burton Mrs. J.E. Burton died at her home in this city last Friday morning. Barbara E. Apple was born in Inwood, Ind., in 1852. In 1879 she moved to Wisconsin locating in Maple Grove, Barron county, where she was married November 23, 1879 to J. E. Burton. In 1899 they moved to Barron and have since made their home here. Three children were born to them, one dying in infancy, while two daughters Misses Maud and Louise together with the bereaved husband are left to mourn. Mrs. Burton was a lady of estimable traits of character and made many friends. Her illness dates back for more than a year. The funeral services were held at the M.D. Church Sunday, last. Rev. G. H. R. Kershaw officiating. The internment was made in the Barron cemetery."
