This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Kent Robarge 5 February 2001 ==================================================================== Edward Chartier From Rice Lake Chronotype, March 14, 1984 HL: Edward Chartier Dies March 11 "Edward Chartier, former member of the Rice Lake Police Department, died Sunday at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake at the age of 90. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. this Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rice Lake and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call until 9 p.m. Wednesday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake where there will be a rosary recitation with the Knights of Columbus at 7:30 p.m. and a Moose Memorial at 9 p.m. Mr. Chartier was born Oct. 1, 1893 at Dobie and he lived in the Rice Lake area all his life. On April 25, 1916, he married the former Victoria Demers at Dobie. He worked for a number of years as a logger with the Knapp-Stout Co., and then was employed as a brakeman for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He also operated a trucking service for several years, and later joined the Rice Lake Police Force where he worked for 22 years and retired in July 1959. After retiring, he served as a security man for the Barron County Fair and the Rice Lake Speedway. He was a past governor and longtime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, two sons, DeWayne of San Leandro, Calif., and Clarence (Bud) of Gresham, Ore.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren."
