Delima Morneau was born in the parish of St. John, Chrysostome, province of Quebec, Canada, on Sept. 30, 1854, and died in this city on Thursday, Dec. 14, after a short illness with cancer, at the age of 68 years, 2 months and 14 days. When twenty-two years of age she was married to Sam Couture, and seven years later, in 1883, they removed to this city from Canada with their three children: Alice, now Mrs. John Mitchell; Cordelia, now Mrs. William Burton; and Albertine. One child had died in infancy in Canada. Since their removal to this city nine more children were born to this union: Calista, now Mrs. Roy Benson of Spooner; Archie, at home; and Wilfred of Sioux City, Iowa, six others having preceded their mother in death. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at St. Joseph's church, the Rev. A.J. Van Helden officiating, with interment at St. Joseph's cemetery. All her children from away, several grandchildren, numerous other relatives, and a host of friends made during the thirty-nine years she resided here, joined the bereaved husband and children in the final services in honor of a true and loving wife and mother, and a kind and sympathetic friend."
