Submitted by: Kent Robarge 03 August 2007 ************************************************************************ Obituary of Frank Crotteau in Wed, Jan 5, 1966 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron County, WI) Frank Crotteau, 97, Canton Pioneer, Succumbs Tuesday Frank Crotteau, who came to this area when Rice Lake was only a body of water from which the town later took its name, died Tuesday night at a local hospital following a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's church here with Rev. Robert Riedmueller officiating and burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Mason Funeral home Friday afternoon and evening and a rosary is slated there at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Mr. Crotteau was born Jan. 1, 1869 in Canada and came here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Crotteau when he was only three. They settled on a farm four miles east of Rice Lake and he has lived in this vicinity all of his life. He was married in 1894 to Hermaline King and they farmed for many years in the town of Doyle. Following her death in 1937, Mr. Crotteau went to live with a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Huiras east of Canton. He had been a resident of St. Joseph's Nursing home since last April. Mr. Crotteau is survived by four sons, Joseph, Fred and Maurice of Rice Lake and William of Canton; three daughters, Mrs. John Huiras of Canton, Mrs. Exzillia Kummit of Rice Lake and Mrs. Fred Boury of Mesa, Ariz.; 46 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson and by a brother, Peter of Canton.
