Crotteau in Jan. 20, 1916 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron Co., WI) John Crotteau John Crotteau of this city died Friday, Jan. 14, of blood poisoning, at the age of 48 years, 8 months and 6 days. Mr. Crotteau was struck in the lip by a flying chip while working at one of the Bekkedal camps near Couderay. The cut was not serious but he caught cold and it became infected. He walked tothe station at Couderay to come to this city to have the wound treated, and the exertion caused the infection to spread beyond the point where it could be stayed. Mr. Crotteau was born May 8, 1867, at Chinwick (sic), Quebec, and came to Rice Lake with his parents at the age of 6 years, and has lived here ever since. July 26, 1895 he was married to Olivine Gagner of this city. To this union five children were born, one of whom preceded him in death. Mr. Crotteau was a steady, reliable workman. He was a member of the Rice Lake Volunteer Fire Department and also of the Beaver Lodge. The funeral was held Monday morning at St. Joseph's church, Rev. Father Schmit officiating. He leaves to mourn his death, his widow and four children, Victoria, Alex, Lina and Harry, four brothers, two sisters, a number of more distant relatives and numerous friends.
