Submitted by: Kent Robarge 03 August 2007 ************************************************************************ Obituary of Edmear (Crotteau) DeMars in Wed, Jan 12, 1938 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron County, WI) Mrs. Edmear DeMars Mrs. Edmear DeMars, pioneer resident of this community and mother of 20 children, passed away Saturday at her home in Rice Lake. Funeral services were held Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic church with the Rev. B. Niggemann officiating. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery. Mrs. DeMars was born May 25, 1864 in Quebec, Canada and came to Rice Lake with her parents in 1883. She was married to Octave DeMars July 1, 1885 and the couple settled on a farm five miles northeast of Rice Lake. They lived there until 1927 when they retired and moved into the city and lived at 107 W. Marshall street. Mrs. DeMars is survived by her husband, four sons, Edward, Delore, Arthur and Isadore, all of Rice Lake; six daughters, Mrs. Peter (Cessere) Gagnier, Mrs. John (Leda) Gagnier, Mrs. Delor (Evelyn) Gagnier, Mrs. John (Donalda) Kummett, Mrs. Jake (Olive) Kritch, Mrs. Otto (Laura) Muehlenberg, and adopted daughter, Exilda, all of Rice Lake; 37 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three brothers living in Canada and two sisters, Mrs. Jos. King, Canton, and Mrs. Jos. Forest, Canada. J.P. Schneider had charge of the funeral.
