Demers and Beatrice Oliver) From Rice Lake Chronotype, March 30, 1983 HL: L. Ben DeMars Dies Tuesday "L. Ben DeMars, 53, of Rice Lake died Tuesday at Lakeview Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from First United Methodist Church of Rice Lake, with Rev. William Dushek officiating. Burial will be made in Nora Cemetery. Mr. DeMars, born Nov. 17, 1929, at Chicago, married DeLoris Hunt Dec. 18, 1948, at Chetek. He has been a resident of Rice Lake since his marriage, where he owned and operated Cash Register Exchange and DeTrain Shippe. Mr. DeMars was a past officer of the Elks lodge at Rice Lake. In addition to his wife, DeLoris, he is survived by two daughters, Diane DeVoer of Pensacola, Fla., and Barbara Gullickson of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and by three grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Appleyard's Home for Funerals, and at the church Friday for one hour prior to the time of services. An Elk's memorial service will be held Thursday at 9:30 p.m. at the funeral home."
