Submitted by: Kent Robarge 10 December 2007 **************************************************************************************************************************** Obituary of Mary (O'Donnell) Demers in Wed., March 30, 1966 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron Co., WI) Monday Services Are Held Here For Mary DeMers Funeral services were held Monday from St. Joseph's church here for Mrs. Mary DeMers, 96, resident of this area some 85 years, who died Friday morning. Rev. Robert Riedmueller officiated and burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. DeMers was born in Bangor, Me. Aug. 11, 1869 and came to Barron county in 1881. Her parents settled on a homestead south of the present Stanfold town hall and she later became one of the first teachers at the Arrandale school in that area. She is survived by one son, Lawrence of Iron River, Wis.; a daughter, Mrs. Isella Foss of Rice Lake; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Her husband, Eusebe, died in 1949.
