Demers Obituary from May 19, 1993 Rice Lake Chronotype "Clarence Demers, 79, of Rice Lake died Thursday at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Rev. Brendan Kunda officiating and burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Demers was born March 2, 191 to Eva and Eugene Demers in Rice Lake, where he was raised and educated. After marrying Bernice Richter of Oct. 5, 1938, they farmed in the Rice Lake area for 18 years. He quit farming in 1956 and went to work for the Johnson Retinning Company until 1961. He then moved his family to Red Wing, Minn., where he was employed manufacturing cabinets until his retirement. In 1972, they moved back to Rice Lake. Survivors include his wife, Bernice; five sons, Ronald of Hickston, Larry of Clayton, Clarence Jr. of Red Wing, Minn., Eugene of St. Louis, and John of Rice Lake; eight daughters, Mary Ann Ferry, Sylvia Dvorak and Sue Oleson, all of Rice Lake, Josephine Wiesmueller of Theinsville, Janice Frazier and Beverly Langer, both of Red Wing, Minn., Kathleen Mattocks of Milwaukee, and Linda Demers of St. Paul; four brothers, Donald, LeRoy and Eugene, all of Rice Lake, and Elmer of Indianopolis; two sisters, Isabelle Bard of Duluth, and Leona Richter of Rice Lake; 28 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren."
