Mrs. Peter Demars, 78, passed away Thursday evening at her home on Newton street after a year's illness. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9:30 from St. Joseph's Catholic church with the Rev. B. Niggemann officiating, and burial was in the Catholic cemetery. Mrs. Demars, as Celinar Robarge, was born in Quebec, Canada, April 21, 1859 and moved to Barron county with her parents when she was nine. She was married to Peter Demars Oct. 1, 1877 at Our Lady of Lourdes church at Stanfold, now known as Dobie. They lived on a farm east of Dobie until 1923 when they retired and moved to Rice Lake where they have lived since. Mr. and Mrs. Demars celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary last October. Thirteen children were born to this union, eight of whom are still living. Mrs. Demars is survived by her husband; four sons, Henry, Elzear and Felix, Rice Lake and Louis of Chicago; four daughters, Mrs. Geo. (Alice) LaBrie, Mrs. Ed (Leo) Robarge, Mrs. Alex (Eveline) Demars, and Mrs. Ed (Victoria) Chartier, all of Rice Lake. One son, Alex, died when 17 and Veronica when 12 and three children died in infancy. J.P. Schneider & Sons were in charge of the funeral."
