Submitted by: Kent Robarge 03 August 2007 ************************************************************************ Obituary of Cyrille Demers in Wed, Oct 31, 1923 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron County, WI) Cyrille Demers Cyrille Demers, one of Rice Lake's pioneer residents, passed from this life Thursday, October 25, at his home in this city after a long illness. In all of his sufferings he showed the utmost patience and never complained. Mr. Demers was born in upper Canada December 16, 1844, and was therefor 78 years, 10 months and 9 days old when called to his eternal rest. He was one of that sturdy band of French-Canadian pioneers who came to the Rice Lake country fifty-five years ago. His parents and many other relatives lived for years in Dobie and Rice Lake. Throughout life Mr. Demers was a faithful and devout member of the Catholic church. He is survived by his wife and other relatives. The funeral services were held Monday morning with requiem mass celebrated, and the remains taken to Dobie for burial beside the parents, who had preceded him in death.
