Demars, 97, a carpenter in the Rice Lake area for many years, died Saturday evening at Northland Care center in Rice Lake where he had been a resident for the past 11 years. Services were held Wednesday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Rice Lake with Rev. John Spanjers officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Demars was born Nov. 27, 1879 in Cedar Lake township. He worked as a cabinet maker and home builder in the Rice Lake area and in Illinois until retiring in 1966. He is survived by a daughter, Mildred Olson of Rice Lake; two sisters, Alice LaBrie and Victoria Chartier, both of Rice Lake; a brother, Elzear Demars of Rice Lake and by 11 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. His wife and a son preceded him in death."
