Demars, 70 Dies Here Today "Mrs. Lena Demars, wife of Rice Lake Alderman, died this morning at a local hospital at the age of 70. Funeral arrangements are being made at the Mason Funeral chapel. Mrs. Demars had been in ill health." From Rice Lake Chronotype, Wed., May 11, 1966 "Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Demars were held Saturday May 7 at 2 p.m. from the Mason Funeral home with Rev. Lowell Helstedt officiating and burial was made in St. Joseph's cemetery. Mrs. Demars was born Jan. 7, 1889 in the town of Stanfold to Mr. and Mrs. William Wille, sr. and passed away at Lakeside hospital May 4 after being in the hospital nine weeks. She was united in marriage to E. L. Demars Nov. 24, 1914 at Rice Lake. She farmed with her husband until 1936, when they moved to Rice Lake. They celebrated their golden wedding on November 15, 1964. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Wm. (Lucille) Zabel, Sr. and Mrs. Edward (Valoris) Mazel, both of Rice Lake; 4 grandchildren, Wm. Zabel, Jr. of Eau Claire and Marlena Kay, Larry and Michelle Mazel of Rice Lake; two great-grandchildren, William Foster and Daniel C. Zabel of Eau Claire. Also surviving are 3 sisters, Mrs. Minnie Brain of Great Falls, Mont., Mrs. Ella White of Rice Lake, Mrs. Eda Jerry of Cumberland and 7 brothers, Arthur Wille of Stockton, California, Paul, Leo, Otto and Fred of Mahnomen, Minnesota, William, Jr. and Carl of Rice Lake."
