Submitted by: Kent Robarge 03 August 2007 ************************************************************************ Obituary of Marie (Desrosier) Demers in Wed, April 20, 1924 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron Co., WI) Marie Desrosier Demers Mrs. Marie DesRosier Demers passed away Sunday, April 27, at her home, 107 W. Marshall street, following a long illness of diabetes. Mrs. Demers, one of Rice Lake's most highly respected pioneers, was born in upper Canada 76 years ago and came to the Rice Lake country with her husband in November, 1871. They went through the trials of pioneer days and saw this country transformed from a wilderness to what it is today. She was married in 1864 to F. J. Demers, who passed from this life on Feb. 7, 1908. January 25, 1910, whe was married to Cyrille Demers, who died October 25, 1923. There survive fibe children, W.A. Demers of Rice Lake, A.J. Demers of Seattle, Wash., Dr. J.J. Demers of Huntley, Mont., Mrs. P.J. Vaughn of Appleton, Wis., and Mrs. J.H. Wilz of Rice Lake. Also twenty-two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Demers was a woman of estimable qualities who will be greatly missed by friends and relatives. She was member of the Alter Society of St. Joseph's Catholic church, of which she was a devout member. A requiem mass was held at St. Joseeph's church this morning, the Rev. A.J. Van Helden officiating, and the interment took place in St. Joseph's cemetery.
